Get Started & Get Results

Get Started & Get Results

How many times a week should I workout?

We suggest you start with 3 workouts per week but remember any exercise is better than none! If you want to train more than this, go for it! However, it is important to remember that rest is also a crucial part of your health & fitness journey so we suggest you have at least one rest day per week so you can recover properly.

What do I need to bring?

A towel for the equipment, covered in shoes (preferably joggers or sports shoes) and a water bottle. It can be handy to have a second towel to use to wipe sweat from your face. We have free lockers in our change rooms to store your belongings.

What type of training should I do and why?

We recommend a variety of exercise types for balanced and vibrant health! Generally we find best results around doing weights 2-3 times a week for about 45-60 mins at a time, cardio 2 or 3 times a week and 1-2 times a week of flexibility, core or wellness training. When you sign up we offer you 1hr free with one of our qualified trainers to go through a personalised program. We also have free strength workout example cards for beginner, intermediate & advanced available on the PT office wall (near reception) for you to access at any time.

Talk to one of our qualified reception staff to work out a plan specific for you needs, however we have included an example training regime below.

Monday: Les Mills CORE & Les Mills RPM (Core & Cardio)

Tuesday: Weights program with Cardiovascular training (Strength training & Cardio)

Wednesday: YOGA (Core, Wellness and Flexibility)

Thursday: Weights program with Cardiovascular training (Strength training & Cardio)

Friday: Pilates & Cardiovascular training on equipment (Core & Cardio)

Saturday: Body PUMP (Strength training)

Sunday: Rest

Examples of training styles:

Strength training – Weights program & Les Mills Body Pump.

Cardiovascular Training – Les Mills Body Step, Les Mills Body Combat, Les Mills RPM, Les Mills Sprint and Cardio equipment such as treadmills, bikes and X-Trainers.

Flexibility, Core & Wellness training – Les Mills Core, Yoga, Pilates & Body Balance.

At Your Life Fitness Centre we offer these 3 training styles under the one roof for an affordable rate, enabling you to achieve much more, much faster.

Do I need to push myself?

We suggest taking is easy over the first 4 weeks to see how your body reacts to your new training regime. You can expect some muscle soreness at the beginning of your fitness journey, however your body will start to adapt as you get used to your new lifestyle. As time goes on, you can start pushing yourself a bit harder to maximise your results. Remember if you don’t change anything; for example increase your weights, how far you push yourself with cardio or the types of exercise you do than nothing changes. If you feel like you need some extra motivation to push yourself, try a class or get in contact with one of our experienced, qualified Personal Trainers!

Is nutrition important?

Nutrition is very important & you can easily increase your results by making small changes in your diet. At Your Life Fitness Centre we have a Dietition on site for your convenience. See reception to find out how to book an appointment (extra charges apply). Alternatively you can see our reception staff for some tips!

We also have an educational Nutrition Ebook and Meal Plan in the shop section here if you want to dive deep into your nutrition and really maximise your results.

Ask for help!

We have qualified trainers that are ready to help you whenever you need it within staffed hours, please contact reception whenever you need by phone or in person for advice. Outside of normal hours we still offer an email service for information, we aim to respond within 48 hours to your questions and we are happy to make a time to talk. Email and we will help you out!

Book it in and plan!

You will be much more successful in achieving results if you can be consistent with your workouts. We recommend that you book your training session in your phone or diary just like you would an appointment. You will be much more likely to show up for yourself if you have it scheduled and booked in. Remember that no one is motivated 100% of the time & before motivation comes discipline, so it is inevitable that there will be times that you have to dig deep and show up for yourself, even if you don’t feel like it. Soon enough, your training regime will just become part of your normal routine & lifestyle & you will feel strange when you miss a session! If your training sessions are early in the morning, have your training clothes set out ready to go the night before so you are prepared for your early, healthy start in the morning.

‘If you fail to plan, then you’re planning to fail.’
